Total CO2 emissions 47,90749,52746,49847,865-0.12.9
Note 1:
"Emissions from industrial processes" refers to CO2 emitted by non-energy sources in the course of the manufacturing process.
Note 2:
Calculations of total CO2 emissions for the 34 industries are based on data on "generating end" electric power input per unit output provided by the respective industries on a fiscal year basis. On the other hand, in follow-up surveys, a number of industries have chosen to use either "demand end" electric power input per unit output or fixed (the ratio in fiscal 1990) electric power input per unit output (Japan Chemical Industry Association, Japan Gas Association, Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Japan Electrical Manufactures Association, Japan Camera Industry Association). The figures for CO2 emissions by industry in the table are the latter. Thus, differences between these totals and those calculated on a "generating end basis" are included in this column.
(The CO2 emissions for fiscal 1990 provided by the Japan Bearing Industrial Association are estimates.)
