September 12, 2005

(On the result of general election)

I did not expect LDP's landslide victory to this magnitude. The largest attribute is the LDP strategy in solidifying its policy stance under dominantly strong leadership under Prime Minister Koizumi. The Democratic Party should regroup and tighten its grip over its own membership so that one day Japan will have a steady two-party political system.

(Message to Prime Minister Koizumi)

Prime Minister Koizumi and his cabinet should seek early passage of postal privatization bill so that other reforms including social security reform, administrative reform, fiscal reform, and education reform will be sped up. Diplomatic relationship with neighboring countries needs attention.
