Chairman Mitarai's comment at his press conference

(On a meeting with the Business Roundtable)

Leaders of Keidanren and Business Roundtable met on January 19 in NYC to discuss a common agenda for promoting global economic growth. The meeting covered key topics such as the WTO Doha round, Japan-US Economic Partnership Agreement, business relations with China and global warming. In the joint statement of the meeting, the two business organizations urge their governments to launch a joint industry-academia-government study and research to begin discussion toward a framework for negotiation of such an agreement.

The result of the election drops no hint to guess what is becoming of nationwide local elections in April and the House of Councilors election in summer.

Safety and health of consumers should come first when products and service are introduced in the market.
