Chairman Mitarai's comment at his press conference

Following is the gist of remarks made by Chairman Mitarai at his Press Conference. Translation is rush and tentative, and sequence of the gist does not necessarily coincide with words delivered.

( The meeting with Chinese vice premier Wang Qishan on June 8 )

The Chinese leader and Keidanren shared the view that the recovery of the US economy was the key to pump up the world economy. Keidanren side touched upon the three issues below at the meeting:.

  1. The concerns about the Chinese government's basic stance on the discloser of source code of foreign affiliated firms' electrical appliances
  2. The importance of cooperation in the field of energy saving and environmental protection
  3. Keidanren's plan to launch a conference of Asian business leaders

I made a proposition of having policy dialogs with the Chinese government on a regular basis.

I am going to discuss the world economy with the US top policy makers. I also plan to meet with American business leaders to learn their views on economic policies of President Obama and its effect.
The following issues are going to be discussed with Business Roundtable members:

  1. How to tackle the global financial and economic crisis
  2. How to facilitate the international trade and investment
  3. How to go ahead with EPA/FTA negotiation between Japan and the U.S.
  4. How to work on the climate change and energy issues
