New Keidanren Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda Stresses Competition and Cooperation


Shoichiro Toyoda was named the new chairman along with the appointment of vice chairmen and other new executives in Keidanren's fiscal 1994 general assembly held on May 27.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Toyoda stressed the need for building secure international relations based on the principles of "mutual understanding and trust" and "competition and cooperation." He went on to say that Keidanren will aim for the steady realization of critical needs in such areas as government deregulation, administrative reform, and the enhancement of social infrastructure.

In line with his proposal, Keidanren has adopted policy priorities on political, economic and administrative reform, revitalization of the domestic economy, and improving overall relationship overseas.
