Interim Report on the Emergency Questionnaire Survey on the Great Hanshin Earthquake

1. Emergency Questionnaire Survey on the Great Hanshin Earthquake Keidanren conducted an Emergency Questionnaire Survey on the Great Hanshin Earthquake among 970 member companies to determine each company's relief activities as of February 17, one month after the quake. We received responses from 510 companies (response rate: 52.6%).

2. Overview of the Interim Report
   Of the 510 companies that responded to the survey, 483 companies gave monetary assistance (94.7% of responding companies) for a combined total of 12 billion yen in monetary assistance. In addition, 272 companies (53.3% of responding companies) donated emergency supplies worth 6.1 billion yen (figure includes only the 225 companies that converted their assistance in kind into a monetary value). The total assistance, combining money and in kind was 18.1 billion yen.
   The number of companies that offered facilities is 130 (25.5% of responding companies), and the number of properties offered is 187. The number of companies which already had a special leave system, such as leave for voluntary activities, is 116 (22.7% of responding companies), out of which 27 companies established a special leave for the present quake only, while 2 companies established new leave programs for voluntary activities.
