G-7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors came to a consensus in working together to strengthen financial stability. Based upon the good result, financial institutions are expected to recognize their losses and when necessary take prompt measures to reinforce their capital base.
Keidanren has talked over policy issues with DPJ. A next high level meeting is scheduled on February 14. Various policy items will be discussed also on the occasion to carry out reform for national interest. Policy-oriented politics is what Keidanren always wants.
It goes without saying Japan still enjoys a strong economic power although it is hard to say where Japan is now in the world business ranking. It depends on valuation and views of observers. The Political circles and business community must work harder hand in hand to increase Japan's presence in the world economy.
