Ohi nuclear reactor restart
It is essential to ensure the safety of the related facilities and then gain understanding of the local community to restart the reactors. The Japanese government has worked hard to know the cause of the disaster and introduced various measures to get over difficulties for the last one year. Based upon such efforts, they have recently set new standards for deciding whether to reactivate the nuclear reactors. It is great progresses for the country making people feel much more secure.
When power supply shortage in the Kansai area becomes a reality this summer even after resuming nuclear power station, it is inevitable to survive the serious situation by power-saving efforts just we did in the eastern part of Japan last year. Under these circumstances, there will be no choice but to call for voluntary action in the Kansai region even if it becomes a heavy burden for local people and industries.
The Japanese economy
With the U.S. economy improving and the yen gradually weakening, Japan posted a current account surplus in February. There, however, remain some concerns and the Bank of Japan needs to stay alert so that they can take prompt and flexible action to adapt to changes in global and domestic markets.
North Korea's planned rocket launch
